Data Collection

Secret Diary: Private Journal handles only the data needed to provide the app experience. We do not operate a server that receives or stores your journal content.

• Purchases: Subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. The app receives purchase status from Apple so it can unlock Premium. We do not store payment details.
• Journal Entries: Journal entries, photos, voice recordings, dreams, time capsules, and related metadata are stored locally on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud container. We do not have access to this content.
• Analytics: We do not use any third-party analytics services. We do not track your behavior or collect usage data.

Data Storage

Your data is stored in the following ways:

• Local Storage: Journal entries, photos, settings, and personal data are stored locally on your device using Apple's app sandbox and system data protection. Optional encrypted exports are available when you create a backup.
• iCloud Sync (Optional): If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account. This data is encrypted and only accessible through your Apple ID.
• Keychain: Sensitive data like backup passcodes are stored securely in the iOS Keychain.

Data Access

• We never access, read, or analyze your journal entries or photos.
• We never sell your data or share your journal content with third parties.
• We never use your data for advertising.

Biometric Data

Secret Diary: Private Journal uses Face ID and Touch ID for authentication. This biometric data is handled entirely by Apple's secure enclave and is never accessed by our application. We only receive a success or failure response from the authentication system.

Third-Party Services

Secret Diary: Private Journal uses the following Apple services:

• StoreKit: For in-app purchases and subscriptions
• CloudKit: For optional iCloud sync (user-controlled)
• Local Authentication: For Face ID/Touch ID
• Speech Recognition: For optional voice transcription when you request it. Apple's speech recognition may process audio on device or on Apple's servers after you grant speech recognition permission.

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Data Export & Deletion

You have full control over your data:

• Export: You can export all your data at any time as JSON, PDF, or photo archives.
• Delete: You can delete individual entries or delete journal data from the app settings.
• Uninstall: Deleting the app removes all locally stored data.

Children's Privacy

Secret Diary: Private Journal is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us.

GDPR & CCPA Compliance

Secret Diary: Private Journal is designed to comply with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act):

• Data minimization: We collect only essential information
• Right to access: You can export all your data
• Right to deletion: You can delete your data at any time
• Data portability: Export to standard formats (JSON, PDF)

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
